Alexis Petersen is a Licensed Professional Counselor who has also received her certificate in Play Therapy. Alexis received her Master’s in Mental Health Counseling and Certificate in Play Therapy from MidAmerica Nazarene University; during which she focused on working to promote mental health advocacy and contribute to the realization of a healthy society through fostering wellness and human dignity.

Alexis has experience providing care for children, teens, and adults. She is passionate about working with individuals who are experiencing anxiety and depression, going through life transitions, experiencing interpersonal relationship difficulties, processing grief/loss, as well as other mental health symptoms. She has experience working with a variety of mental health concerns including Functional Neurological Disorder (FND), depression, anxiety, ADHD, behavioral concerns, interpersonal conflict, grief/loss, life transitions, low self-esteem, Identity issues, and substance abuse.

Alexis values working with individuals desiring to overcome personal challenges and mental health symptoms. She has experience utilizing evidence-based practices such as Play Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Family Systems Therapy, Mindfulness, and Person Centered Therapy. She believes in the importance of working with her clients to compose integrative therapeutic interventions tailored to meet each client’s needs.
